Digital scanning
Slides, negatives and photos are scanned using professional scanners. Slides and negatives are scanned at 3000 dpi. Photos are scanned at 600 dpi.
Scanning slides: 40 cents per slide
Scanning 35 mm black and white negatives: 50 cents per image
Scanning 35 mm colour negatives: 35 cents per image
Scanning photos (from a photo album): 50 cents per photos
Scanning photos: 35 cents per photo
Basic restoring and enhancing of scanned images
We manually adjust each scanned image with specialised software to adjust brightness, remove blemishes, dust and scratches, correct colours, restore faded colours, adjust contrast and remove red eye.
The price for this is 50 cents per image
Advanced enhancing of images
Being a photographer, I have a photographer's eye for good photographs. I love to take a good photo and turn it into a great photo by using specialised software. This can include careful cropping of an image, selective sharpening and blurring, selective lightening and darkening and a whole range of other techniques. When I build you a site, I will automatically select 20 of your images to enhance in this way, and this is done for free because I enjoy it so much. See some examples of before and afters.
Free enhancement to 20 images per site. Additional enhancing can be done at $ 10 per photo.
Typing old letters and journals
If you like the idea of having a site, adding travel journals and even old letters can add tremendous richness. These can be scanned and clicked on as images, but they are more accessible when typed out.
Journals and letters typed at $ 25 per hour. A time estimate is provided before typing.
DVD Presentation
Your scanned slides and photos can be made into a DVD presentation. Your DVD will be made with a menu and titles can be included. Your photos will each appear on the screen for about 5 seconds before gently fading into the next image. Your favourite background music can be played. When you want to focus on an image, you simply hit your pause button on the remote.
Price: $ 40 for the DVD. Extra copies for $ 10.
Compiling your memories onto a web site
Creating a comprehensive web site around your memories and treasured photos provides a very powerful way to make your memories come alive and share them with loved ones.
The process for compiling your site is typically as follows:
- We will sit down together and determine the scope and structure of your site. You may want it to celebrate just your travel memories. Or you may want it to extend to family events, your childhood or even your entire life. You may also want to include family history.
- Next, if required, I will digitalise any of your printed photos and slides that you want to go on the site. I will personally pick up your slides and photos if you live in the Sydney area. I can also collect any journals or letters that you want typed or scanned.
- As part of the scanning process, I will manually adjust your scanned photos to restore faded colours and remove blemishes.
- Together, we will collect all your treasured photos (both scanned and those taken with your digital camera) into one place and we'll organise your photos into categories (e.g. trip to Africa 1997, 25th wedding anniversary) I have special software that makes this easy to do.
- Next, I will sort through your photos and I'll make basic enhancements to the the images you took with your digital camera (including straightening, contrast and colour), up to a maximum of 750 images. I'll also help you to identify your 20 best images and will do more advanced enhancing of these photos so they really stand out.
- Next, you decide on a design for your site. You can choose from a range of pre-existing designs. Or I can create you a unique design.
- Next, I set up your site. I use blogging software as this provides strong advantages for a site of this nature which organises information both by time and category.
- I will upload your photos and any typed content to your site.
- You will review the site and I'll make any changes you want made.
- I can train you on how to use the web tool to upload any future photos or memories onto the site. Alternatively, I am happy to make future updates for you at a small fee.
Pricing for a site, including the following:
- Meet with you to discuss your site and it's scope and structure
- With you, categorise your images and select images to go on the site
- Enhance up to 750 of your photos taken with your digital camera (restoration of scanned images is charged separately)
- Provide you with a choice of ready made designs for your site
- Create your site and create up to 25 pages
- Upload photos and any typed content to the site, with images at their original resolution
- Three rounds of content revisions

If you would like me to create you a site with a unique design, this will be an extra $ 300. Also, if you would like a site that has more than 25 pages, additional pages can be created and filled with content for $ 15 per page.
